Inside/Indoor Activities

Bend, Oregon is world famous for being an outdoor playground in the summer and winter, but when the temperature drops, it's also nice to find indoor activities fun for the whole family in the warmth of the great indoors.

Here are some Riverhouse Hotel staff favorites. Take a step back into time at the High Desert Museum and get in a history lesson about Central Oregon. The museum features living history and educational exhibits that are fun for the whole family. Along with period pieces, learn about the habitat of the Bend area. Learn about eagles, owls and get up close with a bobcat, lynx, badger, river otter and porcupine.

Take in a movie! Head to the Old Mill to Regal Cinemas IMAX Movie Theater or if you're into indie and underground films, Tin Pan Theatre, may be more of your style.

Spend the day on the Bend Ale Trail. Over a couple of days, try all of Bend's local breweries and take home a cool Silipint. Each night when you return to your hotel room at the Riverhouse, head down to Crossings, where we feature all of Bend's microbrews on tap.

When there are rain and snow, kids love Bouncing Off The Walls and the Big Play Thing at Cascade Indoor Sports. Check their website for hours of operation. I

f bowling and arcade games are your thing, take the family and head down the road from our hotel in Bend to Sun Mountain Fun Center.

Technically, this activity is outdoors BUT it's worth mentioning. Head underground with a Wanderlust Tours Cave Tour. They'll take you to natural lava caves without artificial lighting, paved pathways and parking lots (and they're not talking about the Lava River Cave on Highway 97).
