Deschutes River Guide Trips
The Lower Deschutes River is a “Blue Ribbon” trout and steelhead fishery north of Bend. Anglers come from all over the world to fish the Deschutes River, and we are blessed to have it in our backyard!  The best fishing on the Deschutes is from May through October, with spring through fall being good for trout, and September and October being prime time for steelhead.
Day Trips are offered throughout the season and include eight hours of guided fishing and a shore lunch. Equipment rentals are available, as well.
Crooked River Guide Trips
The Crooked River is small tail water fishery 26 miles East of Bend. The Crooked has a large population of wild trout and is the best river in Central Oregon for beginning to intermediate anglers. Though experts too enjoy this river for it experiences prolific bug hatches providing great dry fly fishing and good catches, as a result. Our half day trip is our most popular and affordable trip option, though there is more than enough river to spend a whole day on if you so rather.
All Crooked River Guide trips include wader, boots, and fly rod rentals. The only thing you need to provide is a fishing license.
Fly Fishing Classes and Casting Lessons
River Borne Outfitters offers beginning and intermediate fly fishing lessons, as well. Our most popular classes are our “Beginning Fly Fishing” and our “Beginning Fly Fishing, Crooked River” classes.
The “Beginning Fly Fishing” Class is 2.5 hour class taught at a local park near the Riverhouse. In this class, you will be given an equipment overview, taught some fly fishing “Lingo”, learn some basic knots, and how to fly cast. You will get to practice fly casting in a controlled setting (without hooks!) and get to focus on learning the skills needed to perform on the river.
The “Beginning Fly Fishing, Crooked River” class is similar in that we start at the park and get the same instruction as the Beginning Class, but afterwards we head to the Crooked River where we get to put to use the skills we have learned, and get hands on experience fly fishing a river. Hopefully catching some fishing along the way! This class is six hours, but takes most of the day with the drive to and from the river.
All equipment is included in both classes, including wader and boot rentals for those headed to the river. Fishing Licenses are not provided though, and are needed for the Crooked River segment only.
